ABOUT THE AUTHORS

J.A. (Jacqueline Ann) MCLEOD has been writing fiction since she was a young child. Her first character revealing itself as her fantasy friend that was only visible to her.

Born in Australia with the ‘horse mad’ gene it’s not surprising that side by side with her university studies and career have always been horses. And regardless of her travels or if she’s sleeping outside or in she has always kept a notepad and pencil close for recording interesting characters, adventures and plot ideas.

Monty the Monster took form over three years, mainly from real but many imagined characters. Given the amount of travel she’s done around the world who knows. Perhaps you already feature within these pages!

MARGARET BRUCE was born to a large family in country Australia. She trained in education when it wasn’t common for women to get a qualification, let alone a career. Brilliant at creating and de-coding plots Margaret has been instrumental in adding color to the rainbow of characters. It has been Margaret’s ability to infuse her own unique blend of secrets and suspense that’s helped bring Monty so magnificently to life.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

LESLEY BRUCE was born in Bangor North Wales UK and emerged from the womb with that same ‘horse mad’ gene firmly attached.

Looking to art her cot was furnished with chalk and blackboard, tools to discover yellow and blue made green – wow! Magic. And so the drawing began, especially of Bimbo her Budgie, he was green you see.

Lesley’s art school experience was in the sixties when they were all gung ho for abstract modern stuff. “Hump! Grrrr – What a waste she thought and trotted off to work with horses. Her art’s unique and engaging style evolved from a sense of the ridiculous, a necessity to sustain years, and years of mucking out stables.

Her artwork is funny and layered with hidden treasures which enhance your smile and give wings to belly laughs. Her nature is to see the happier shades in all the colours of life’s rainbow. Hence her pencil screamed to create art that laughs and smiles. —– And aren’t we lucky she listened.

Fast forward to now where she lives in Brittany France, in an enchanting old longhouse surrounded by her four legged resident gang of horses, cats and dogs. Oh and Mike the goat and Tandoori the chicken. Then there’s the animal bush telegraph which mysteriously broadcasts – “come over here to the lady who fixes all waifs and strays.” Watch out should you pass by looking like a hobo, she might take you in.
